Why CoverLetterFacts exists

Most cover letter samples online are generic — a template with the job title swapped in. We wanted examples that actually reflect what a given occupation does day to day.

Where the content comes from

Every occupation page starts from the U.S. Department of Labor's O*NET database — the same public dataset used by career counselors and workforce agencies. For each role we pull its documented skills, tasks, and knowledge areas, then build two cover letter examples (entry-level and experienced) and a set of writing tips around that data, so the guidance is anchored to the actual work instead of generic advice.

Each page goes through an automated quality pass before publishing — checking that the letter references the occupation's real O*NET data correctly and that structure and length meet a fixed rubric. It is not reviewed by a human career counselor, and it is not personalized legal, career, or HR advice. See our Terms of Use for the specifics.

What we're not

We're a reference and starting point, not a resume-writing service or a placement agency. We don't collect applications, we don't charge for the examples on this site, and we don't guarantee outcomes. Treat every letter as a draft to adapt with your own experience and voice.
